Professor Introduction
Lv Zhi
Lv Zhi is a Professor at the School of Life Sciences/Institute of Ecology of Peking University, the Executive Director of Peking University Center for Nature and Society, a Vice President of Chinese Women Scientists Association, the Founder of Shan Shui Conservation Center, and a member of the Advisory Committee for the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030). Professor Lv Zhi is committed to nature conservation-related research and practice, and seek evidence-based practical solutions for nature. conservation and sustainable development. She has long been carrying out research on endangered flagship species such as giant panda and snow leopard in the mountains of southwest China and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau from the perspectives of ecological sciences and conservation biology, observing interspecific relationships, trophic cascades and interactions between nature and human activities. In recent years, she has been focused on exploring the mechanisms and conditions for the coexistence between man and nature, and is committed to push forward rural community-led biodiversity conservation and restoration, as well as citizens’ science practices by promoting economic incentives, cultural values, policy improvements, etc. Professor Lv Zhi graduated from Peking University with a bachelor’s degree and a doctoral degree. She once worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) of the United States, and served as a visiting scholar at Harvard University and Yale University.
